Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , Plastic and Chemical sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 2.68%.
The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Silergy (TW:6415), which rose 10.00% or 34.00 points to trade at 374.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Mosel (TW:2342) added 10.00% or 0.25 points to end at 2.75 and Tex-Ray (TW:1467) was up 9.88% or 1.65 points to 18.35 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cathay Fin Hld (TW:2882), which fell 9.29% or 4.30 points to trade at 42.00 at the close. Hung Sheng Con (TW:2534) declined 8.92% or 1.65 points to end at 16.85 and Formosa Chem F (TW:1326) was down 7.84% or 5.80 points to 68.20.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 713 to 126 and 3 ended unchanged.
Shares in Tex-Ray (TW:1467) rose to 3-years highs; rising 9.88% or 1.65 to 18.35.
Crude oil for February delivery was up 1.69% or 0.62 to $37.66 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.85% or 0.32 to hit $37.93 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.82% or 8.70 to trade at $1068.90 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.07% to 33.038, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.1975.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.25% at 98.52.
