Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Oil & Gas, Manufacturing and Telecoms sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 0.73%.
The best performers of the session on the MICEX were E.ON Russia (MCX:EONR), which rose 2.45% or 0.0750 points to trade at 3.1370 at the close. Meanwhile, Rostelecom (MCX:RTKM) added 2.41% or 2.09 points to end at 88.94 and SG mechel (MCX:MTLR) was up 2.02% or 1.29 points to 65.28 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were MVideo (MCX:MVID), which fell 4.07% or 10.50 points to trade at 247.50 at the close. ANK Bashneft OAO Pref (MCX:BANE_p) declined 3.07% or 57.5 points to end at 1815.0 and Pharmstandard JSC (MCX:PHST) was down 2.56% or 28.0 points to 1064.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 124 to 84 and 9 ended unchanged.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 5.85% to 36.360.
Gold for February delivery was up 0.25% or 2.70 to $1074.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 3.18% or 1.17 to hit $35.59 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 5.12% or 2.04 to trade at $37.70 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 1.30% to 69.811, while EUR/RUB rose 3.22% to 77.556.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.41% at 97.52.
