Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financials, Real Estate and Consumption sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 3.38%.
The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were BB Seguridade Participacoes SA (SA:BBSE3), which rose 8.43% or 2.20 points to trade at 28.30 at the close. Meanwhile, Banco do Brasil SA (SA:BBAS3) added 8.40% or 1.38 points to end at 17.80 and Kroton Educacional SA (SA:KROT3) was up 8.38% or 0.820 points to 10.600 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Cia Energetica de Sao Paulo (SA:CESP6), which fell 1.97% or 0.27 points to trade at 13.44 at the close. Tim Participacoes SA (SA:TIMP3) declined 1.47% or 0.11 points to end at 7.38 and EDP - Energias do Brasil SA (SA:ENBR3) was down 1.86% or 0.23 points to 12.12.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange by 187 to 127 and 4 ended unchanged.
Shares in Cia Energetica de Sao Paulo (SA:CESP6) fell to 5-year lows; down 1.97% or 0.27 to 13.44. Shares in Tim Participacoes SA (SA:TIMP3) fell to 52-week lows; losing 1.47% or 0.11 to 7.38.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 3.96% to 45.79.
Gold for February delivery was up 0.72% or 7.60 to $1061.40 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 3.20% or 1.28 to hit $41.22 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract rose 3.91% or 4.70 to trade at $124.97 .
USD/BRL was down 2.29% to 3.7468, while EUR/BRL rose 0.70% to 4.1006.
The US Dollar Index was down 2.18% at 97.87.
