Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Services, Telecoms and Consumer Staples sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General fell 0.19%, while the ADX General index lost 0.89%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Takaful Emarat PSC (DU:TKFE), which rose 2.59% or 0.050 points to trade at 1.980 at the close. Dubai Investments PJSC (DU:DINV) added 1.38% or 0.030 points to end at 2.200 and Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC) was up 1.17% or 0.020 points to 1.730 in late trade.
Biggest losers included AJMAN BANK PJSC (DU:AJBNK), which lost 3.56% or 0.080 points to trade at 2.170 in late trade. SHUAA Capital PSC (DU:SHUA) declined 2.13% or 0.010 points to end at 0.460 and Union Properties PJSC (DU:UPRO) shed 2.07% or 0.019 points to 0.900.
The top performers on the ADX General were Int Fish Farmi (AD:ASMK) which rose 7.25% to 7.10, Methaq (AD:METH) which was up 1.14% to settle at 0.890 and Emirates Ins C (AD:EIC) which unchanged 0.00% to close at 6.72.
The worst performers were Rak Properties (AD:RPRO) which was down 3.08% to 0.630 in late trade, Natl Bk Of Ad (AD:NBAD) which lost 2.27% to settle at 8.60 and Ad Commercial (AD:ADCB) which was down 2.04% to 7.21 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 18 to 8 and 2 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 8 fell and 2 advanced, while 3 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was up 1.75% or 0.64 to $37.14 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 1.94% or 0.77 to hit $40.42 a barrel, while the April Gold contract fell 0.55% or 7.00 to trade at $1255.90 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was up 0.00% to 3.6731, while EUR/AED fell 0.44% to 4.0265.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.21% at 97.36.
