Investing.com – France stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Oil & Gas Producers, Oil & Gas and Personal Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 fell 3.58% to hit a new 1-month low, while the SBF 120 index lost 3.27%.
The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were Kering SA (PA:PRTP), which fell 0.25% or 0.40 points to trade at 160.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Peugeot SA (PA:PEUP) fell 0.90% or 0.15 points to end at 16.45 and Credit Agricole SA (PA:CAGR) was down 1.37% or 0.155 points to 11.150 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Airbus Group SE (PA:AIR), which fell 5.27% or 3.54 points to trade at 63.66 at the close. Danone SA (PA:DANO) declined 5.12% or 3.37 points to end at 62.51 and Total SA (PA:TOTF) was down 4.68% or 2.19 points to 44.47.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Sopra Steria Group SA (PA:SOPR) which rose 2.28% to 112.00, Neopost (PA:NPOS) which was up 1.74% to settle at 21.36 and Innate Pharma (PA:IPH) which gained 1.35% to close at 14.260.
The worst performers were Airbus Group SE (PA:AIR) which was down 5.27% to 63.66 in late trade, Danone SA (PA:DANO) which lost 5.12% to settle at 62.51 and Total SA (PA:TOTF) which was down 4.68% to 44.47 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 529 to 200 and 55 ended unchanged.
Shares in Sopra Steria Group SA (PA:SOPR) rose to 5-year highs; up 2.28% or 2.50 to 112.00.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 1.01% to 22.11.
Gold for February delivery was up 0.46% or 4.90 to $1058.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 2.43% or 0.97 to hit $40.91 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract rose 3.12% or 1.32 to trade at $43.81 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 2.96% to 1.0927, while EUR/GBP rose 1.89% to 0.7234.
The US Dollar Index was down 2.02% at 98.02.
