Investing.com – Portugal equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Utilities, Consumer Services and Financials sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Lisbon, the PSI 20 added 1.87%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the PSI 20 were EDP (LS:EDP), which rose 4.17% or 0.1100 points to trade at 2.7510 at the close. Pharol SGPS SA (LS:PHRA) added 3.96% or 0.0040 points to end at 0.1050 and Banco Comercial Portugues (LS:BCP) was up 3.85% or 0.0007 points to 0.0189 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Sonae Capital (LS:SONAC), which lost 0.73% or 0.0040 points to trade at 0.5420 in late trade. CTT Correios de Portugal SA (LS:CTT) declined 0.53% or 0.0390 points to end at 7.2600 and Nos SGPS SA (LS:NOS) shed 0.42% or 0.0230 points to 5.4600.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 36 to 10 and 5 ended unchanged on the Lisbon Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Brent oil for September delivery was up 2.56% or 1.26 to $50.52 a barrel. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 2.59% or 1.24 to hit $49.09 a barrel, while the August Gold contract rose 0.73% or 9.65 to trade at $1327.55 a troy ounce.
EUR/USD was up 0.37% to 1.1106, while EUR/GBP fell 0.69% to 0.8236.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.41% at 95.80.
