Investing.com – India equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Real Estate, Power and Healthcare sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in NSE, the Nifty 50 gained 0.03%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index gained 0.01%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Nifty 50 were Vedanta Ltd (NS:VDAN), which rose 4.01% or 4.00 points to trade at 103.80 at the close. Zee Entertainment Enterprises Ltd. (NS:ZEE) added 2.44% or 9.90 points to end at 414.90 and Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd. (NS:KTKM) was up 2.24% or 15.70 points to 717.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Idea Cellular Ltd (NS:IDEA), which lost 6.28% or 7.95 points to trade at 118.55 in late trade. HCL Technologies Ltd (NS:HCLT) declined 6.20% or 49.60 points to end at 750.30 and Bharti Airtel Ltd. (NS:BRTI) shed 2.44% or 9.10 points to 363.60.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which rose 3.75% to 103.75, Cipla Ltd. (BO:CIPL) which was up 1.89% to settle at 537.00 and HDFC Bank Ltd. (BO:HDBK) which gained 1.69% to close at 1133.45.
The worst performers were Bharti Airtel Ltd (BO:BRTI) which was down 2.32% to 363.65 in late trade, State Bank Of India (BO:SBI) which lost 1.67% to settle at 188.95 and Reliance Industries Ltd (BO:RELI) which was down 1.48% to 982.55 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 780 to 629 and 84 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 437 fell and 372 advanced, while 35 ended unchanged on the India National Stock Exchange.
The India Vix, which measures the implied volatility of Nifty 50 options, was down 0.36% to 16.5375.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was up 1.10% or 13.95 to $1280.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.96% or 0.44 to hit $46.47 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 0.52% or 0.25 to trade at $48.02 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.01% to 66.395, while EUR/INR rose 0.34% to 75.6430.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.38% at 93.37.
