Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Cement, Cement & Glass and Construction sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.73%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Logah (TW:3593), which rose 10.00% or 0.70 points to trade at 7.70 at the close. Chang Ho (TW:1468) added 10.00% or 1.00 points to end at 11.00 and Pan Intl Ind (TW:2328) was up 9.92% or 2.55 points to 28.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included China Tv (TW:9928), which lost 8.04% or 0.45 points to trade at 5.15 in late trade. Solartech Ener (TW:3561) declined 3.12% or 0.50 points to end at 15.55 and Taiwan Paiho (TW:9938) shed 3.11% or 3.50 points to 109.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 622 to 140 and 86 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 1.86% or 0.82 to $44.87 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 1.37% or 0.63 to hit $46.51 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.33% or 4.35 to trade at $1322.55 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.28% to 31.452, while TWD/CNY fell 0.14% to 0.2119.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.18% at 96.14.
