Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Thursday, as gains in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Telecoms & IT and Consumer Goods sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 added 0.75%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Banco Santander (MC:SAN), which rose 5.24% or 0.301 points to trade at 6.050 at the close. ArcelorMittal SA (MC:MTS) added 1.95% or 0.360 points to end at 18.800 and Indra A (MC:IDR) was up 1.77% or 0.230 points to 13.230 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bankia SA (MC:BKIA), which lost 1.67% or 0.072 points to trade at 4.250 in late trade. Melia Hotels (MC:MEL) declined 1.57% or 0.215 points to end at 13.510 and Mediaset ESP (MC:TL5) shed 1.25% or 0.145 points to 11.470.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 121 to 51 and 20 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was down 1.03% or 13.32 to $1279.88 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.31% or 0.14 to hit $45.86 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract rose 0.12% or 0.06 to trade at $48.12 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.34% to 1.1218, while EUR/GBP fell 0.16% to 0.8676.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.29% at 96.95.
