Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Optoelectronic, Paper & Pulp and Textile sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.65% to hit a new all time high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Lead Data Inc (TW:2443), which rose 9.97% or 0.61 points to trade at 6.73 at the close. Ichia Technologies Inc (TW:2402) added 9.97% or 1.85 points to end at 20.40 and Davicom Semiconductor Inc (TW:3094) was up 9.87% or 2.35 points to 26.15 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Jenn Feng New Energy Co Ltd (TW:1538), which lost 5.78% or 0.52 points to trade at 8.48 in late trade. Microelectronics Technology Inc (TW:2314) declined 5.41% or 2.10 points to end at 36.70 and JSL Construction & Development Co Ltd (TW:2540) shed 5.38% or 1.50 points to 26.40.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 487 to 258 and 133 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for July delivery was down 1.74% or 0.84 to $47.52 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in August fell 1.66% or 0.84 to hit $49.79 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.54% or 6.82 to trade at $1260.18 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.07% to 30.128, while TWD/CNY rose 0.18% to 0.2262.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 97.18.
