Investing.com – Spain equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Consumer Services, Building & Construction and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 lost 0.17%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Viscofan (MC:VIS), which rose 2.02% or 0.965 points to trade at 48.710 at the close. Mapfre (MC:MAP) added 1.72% or 0.037 points to end at 2.186 and BBVA (MC:BBVA) was up 1.04% or 0.050 points to 4.835 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Amadeus IT (MC:AMA), which lost 1.86% or 0.775 points to trade at 40.860 in late trade. ACS Const. (MC:ACS) declined 1.40% or 0.345 points to end at 24.250 and Grifols SA (MC:GRLS) shed 1.24% or 0.240 points to 19.165.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 114 to 73 and 20 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.57% or 7.85 to $1364.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 4.13% or 1.63 to hit $41.14 a barrel, while the October Brent oil contract rose 3.92% or 1.64 to trade at $43.44 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.66% to 1.1150, while EUR/GBP fell 0.37% to 0.8373.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.49% at 95.49.
