Investing.com – India stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Metals, Auto and Capital Goods sectors led shares lower.
At the close in NSE, the S&P CNX Nifty fell 0.93%, while the BSE Sensex 30 index fell 0.95%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P CNX Nifty were Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. (NSE:REDY), which rose 5.57% or 221.00 points to trade at 4191.25 at the close. Meanwhile, Idea Cellular Ltd (NSE:IDEA) added 2.55% or 3.55 points to end at 142.80 and Lupin Ltd (NSE:LUPN) was up 2.20% or 43.80 points to 2034.15 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tata Motors Ltd . (NSE:TAMO), which fell 6.06% or 18.40 points to trade at 285.00 at the close. Vedanta Ltd (NSE:VDAN) declined 4.60% or 4.40 points to end at 91.20 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (NSE:SUN) was down 3.46% or 30.90 points to 861.00.
The top performers on the BSE Sensex 30 were Dr. Reddy's Laboratories Ltd. (BO:REDY) which rose 5.54% to 4191.85, Hindustan Unilever Ltd. (BO:HLL) which was up 1.43% to settle at 792.60 and Tata Power Co. Ltd (BO:TTPW) which gained 0.85% to close at 65.50.
The worst performers were Tata Motors Ltd. (BO:TAMO) which was down 6.06% to 285.25 in late trade, Vedanta Ltd (BO:VDAN) which lost 4.40% to settle at 91.20 and Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. (BO:SUN) which was down 3.42% to 860.80 at the close.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the India National Stock Exchange by 884 to 534 and 14 ended unchanged; on the Bombay Stock Exchange, 463 fell and 288 advanced, while 7 ended unchanged.

Gold for December delivery was down 1.14% or 13.10 to $1132.50 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in November fell 1.97% or 0.90 to hit $44.80 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract fell 1.84% or 0.90 to trade at $47.70 a barrel.
USD/INR was down 0.04% to 66.135, while EUR/INR fell 0.22% to 73.9390.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.06% at 96.42.
