Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Telecoms, Oil & Gas and Mining sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX fell 0.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Rosseti ao (MCX:RSTI), which rose 5.78% or 0.0406 points to trade at 0.7426 at the close. FSK EES (MCX:FEES) added 3.14% or 0.0047 points to end at 0.1540 and Ros Agro PLC (MCX:AGRODR) was up 2.93% or 27 points to 947 in late trade.
Biggest losers included NLMK ao (MCX:NLMK), which lost 1.68% or 1.54 points to trade at 90.34 in late trade. Inter rao ees (MCX:IRAO) declined 1.50% or 0.0400 points to end at 2.6330 and NOVATEK (MCX:NVTK) shed 1.16% or 7.60 points to 645.90.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 137 to 81 and 24 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was down 0.52% to 26.880 a new 52-week low.
In commodities trading, Gold for August delivery was down 0.75% or 9.95 to $1321.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September fell 1.81% or 0.81 to hit $43.94 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract fell 1.77% or 0.82 to trade at $45.38 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.82% to 64.9087, while EUR/RUB rose 0.47% to 71.147.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.61% at 97.53.
