Investing.com – Germany equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Food & Beverages, Pharmaceuticals & Healthcare and Retail sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Frankfurt, the DAX declined 0.29%, while the MDAX index lost 0.07%, and the TecDAX index lost 0.38%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DAX were RWE AG ST O.N. (DE:RWEG), which rose 2.34% or 0.330 points to trade at 14.460 at the close. Vonovia SE (DE:VNAn) added 1.60% or 0.51 points to end at 32.09 and Infineon Technologies AG NA O.N. (DE:IFXGn) was up 0.74% or 0.120 points to 16.355 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Commerzbank AG O.N. (DE:CBKG), which lost 1.84% or 0.116 points to trade at 6.187 in late trade. Deutsche Bank AG NA O.N. (DE:DBKGn) declined 1.28% or 0.170 points to end at 13.155 and Bay.Motoren Werke AG ST (DE:BMWG) shed 1.00% or 0.800 points to 79.370.
The top performers on the MDAX were Stroeer SE (DE:SAXG) which rose 3.85% to 41.525, Deutsche Wohnen AG Inh (DE:DWNG) which was up 1.82% to settle at 29.720 and Steinhoff International Holdings NV (DE:SNHG) which gained 1.70% to close at 4.84.
The worst performers were Fielmann AG (DE:FIEG) which was down 6.41% to 63.180 in late trade, Rhoen Klinikum AG (DE:RHKG) which lost 2.82% to settle at 25.355 and Deutsche Pfandbriefbank AG (DE:PBBG) which was down 2.72% to 9.36 at the close.
The top performers on the TecDAX were Draegerwerk VZO O.N. (DE:DRWG_p) which rose 5.93% to 64.980, Siltronic AG (DE:WAFGn) which was up 5.30% to settle at 32.770 and RIB Software AG Na (DE:RIB) which gained 3.26% to close at 12.335.
The worst performers were Cancom SE O.N. (DE:COKG) which was down 2.34% to 41.360 in late trade, Dialog Semiconductor (DE:DLGS) which lost 2.18% to settle at 35.750 and Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology O.N. (DE:PV) which was down 1.93% to 82.670 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 540 to 347 and 25 ended unchanged on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange.
The DAX volatility index, which measures the implied volatility of DAX options, was up 10.36% to 20.53 a new 1-month high.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.07% or 0.95 to $1275.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 3.22% or 1.57 to hit $47.13 a barrel, while the January Brent oil contract fell 3.49% or 1.77 to trade at $48.91 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.09% to 1.0976, while EUR/GBP fell 0.43% to 0.8977.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.05% at 98.36.
