Investing.com – France equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Consumer Services, Industrials and Oil & Gas sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 gained 0.25% to hit a new 1-month high, while the SBF 120 index added 0.29%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the CAC 40 were Accor SA (PA:ACCP), which rose 5.02% or 1.66 points to trade at 34.70 at the close. Carrefour SA (PA:CARR) added 4.69% or 1.10 points to end at 24.57 and Safran SA (PA:SAF) was up 2.02% or 1.28 points to 64.68 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Nokia Oyj (PA:NOKIA), which lost 1.18% or 0.054 points to trade at 4.512 in late trade. AXA SA (PA:AXAF) declined 0.94% or 0.20 points to end at 20.46 and Orange SA (PA:ORAN) shed 0.81% or 0.12 points to 14.02.
The top performers on the SBF 120 were Edenred (PA:EDEN) which rose 6.98% to 21.77, Accor SA (PA:ACCP) which was up 5.02% to settle at 34.70 and Television Francaise 1 SA (PA:TFFP) which gained 4.70% to close at 8.469.
The worst performers were Genfit (PA:GNFT) which was down 2.70% to 18.005 in late trade, Electricite de France SA (PA:EDF) which lost 1.77% to settle at 10.26 and Innate Pharma (PA:IPH) which was down 1.49% to 10.560 at the close.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 335 to 328 and 123 ended unchanged on the Paris Stock Exchange.
The CAC 40 VIX, which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was down 4.85% to 17.57.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.59% or 7.45 to $1270.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in November rose 3.02% or 1.52 to hit $51.81 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 2.50% or 1.29 to trade at $52.97 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.14% to 1.0964, while EUR/GBP rose 0.08% to 0.8934.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.04% at 97.92.
