Investing.com – Spain equities were higher at the close on Friday, as gains in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Consumer Goods and Telecoms & IT sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 1.67% to hit a new 3-month high.
The biggest gainers of the session on the IBEX 35 were Grifols SA (MC:GRLS), which rose 3.50% or 0.655 points to trade at 19.390 at the close. Acciona (MC:ANA) added 3.34% or 2.150 points to end at 66.520 and Enagas (MC:ENAG) was up 2.91% or 0.765 points to 27.065 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Melia Hotels (MC:MEL), which added 0.22% or 0.025 points to trade at 11.210 in late trade. Bankia (MC:BKIA) added 0.26% or 0.002 points to end at 0.785 and Merlin Properties SA (MC:MRL) gained 0.43% or 0.04 points to 10.53.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 143 to 42 and 19 ended unchanged on the Madrid Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was up 0.55% or 7.25 to $1324.35 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in October rose 2.99% or 1.29 to hit $44.45 a barrel, while the November Brent oil contract rose 3.04% or 1.38 to trade at $46.83 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.38% to 1.1155, while EUR/GBP fell 0.51% to 0.8387.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.25% at 95.90.
