Investing.com – Spain stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Financial Services & Real Estate, Consumer Services and Telecoms & IT sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Madrid, the IBEX 35 rose 2.73%.
The best performers of the session on the IBEX 35 were BBVA (MC:BBVA), which rose 6.25% or 0.332 points to trade at 5.644 at the close. Meanwhile, Int.Airl.Grp (MC:ICAG) added 5.96% or 0.367 points to end at 6.529 and Banco Popular (MC:POP) was up 5.80% or 0.120 points to 2.188 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Gamesa (MC:GAM), which fell 2.81% or 0.465 points to trade at 16.070 at the close. Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS) declined 2.77% or 0.080 points to end at 2.809 and Mapfre (MC:MAP) was down 1.67% or 0.030 points to 1.765.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Madrid Stock Exchange by 126 to 76 and 23 ended unchanged.
Shares in Arcel. Mittal (MC:MTS) fell to all time lows; losing 2.77% or 0.080 to 2.809. Shares in Mapfre (MC:MAP) fell to 3-years lows; down 1.67% or 0.030 to 1.765.
Gold for April delivery was down 0.47% or 5.60 to $1193.00 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 0.55% or 0.15 to hit $28.09 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 3.51% or 1.06 to trade at $31.39 a barrel.
EUR/USD was down 0.50% to 1.1237, while EUR/GBP fell 0.58% to 0.7758.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.24% at 96.28.
