Investing.com – Turkey equities were lower at the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Telecoms, Food & Beverages and Wholesale & Retail Trade sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 declined 2.08% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BIST 100 were Besiktas Futbol Yat. (IS:BJKAS), which rose 6.28% or 0.30 points to trade at 5.08 at the close. Tumosan Motor Ve Traktor (IS:TMSN) added 4.72% or 0.360 points to end at 7.980 and Petkim (IS:PETKM) was up 3.29% or 0.130 points to 4.080 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Coca Cola Icecek (IS:CCOLA), which lost 7.95% or 3.14 points to trade at 36.36 in late trade. Koza Altin (IS:KOZAL) declined 6.31% or 1.07 points to end at 15.90 and Turkcell (IS:TCELL) shed 6.03% or 0.71 points to 11.07.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 268 to 94 and 49 ended unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for June delivery was down 0.82% or 10.65 to $1281.15 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 0.41% or 0.18 to hit $43.83 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.29% or 0.13 to trade at $44.84 a barrel.
USD/TRY was up 1.25% to 2.8842, while EUR/TRY rose 1.20% to 3.3154.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.26% at 93.26.
