Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Rubber, Textile and Communication and Internet sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 0.35%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Ritek (TW:2349), which rose 9.89% or 0.470 points to trade at 5.220 at the close. Alchip Technologies Ltd (TW:3661) added 8.44% or 2.35 points to end at 30.20 and Zig Sheng Ind (TW:1455) was up 7.69% or 0.62 points to 8.68 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Genesis Photon (TW:3383), which lost 9.90% or 0.40 points to trade at 3.64 in late trade. Tai-I (TW:1613) declined 9.79% or 0.330 points to end at 3.040 and Airtac (TW:1590) shed 6.85% or 17.00 points to 231.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 441 to 307 and 126 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.61% or 0.28 to $46.09 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.68% or 0.32 to hit $47.27 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.53% or 6.45 to trade at $1230.95 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.16% to 31.813, while TWD/CNY rose 0.37% to 0.2151.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.22% at 99.98.
