Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Financials and Consumption sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 1.51%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Petroleo Brasileiro SA (SA:PETR3), which rose 10.60% or 1.77 points to trade at 18.47 at the close. Petroleo Brasileiro SA PN (SA:PETR4) added 9.14% or 1.34 points to end at 16.00 and Qualicorp SA (SA:QUAL3) was up 5.52% or 0.96 points to 18.35 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3), which lost 7.07% or 2.36 points to trade at 31.01 in late trade. Vale SA (SA:VALE3) declined 3.84% or 1.12 points to end at 28.06 and Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) shed 3.75% or 0.50 points to 12.85.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 199 to 154 and 31 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 0.90% to 38.57.
In commodities trading, Gold for February delivery was down 1.35% or 16.05 to $1174.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January rose 8.27% or 3.74 to hit $48.97 a barrel, while the March US coffee C contract fell 1.39% or 2.12 to trade at $150.70 .
USD/BRL was down 0.49% to 3.3823, while EUR/BRL fell 0.95% to 3.5856.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.52% at 101.51.
