Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Hotels and Rubber sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.10% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Hsin Ba Ba (TW:9906), which rose 9.94% or 1.60 points to trade at 17.70 at the close. Shihlin Paper (TW:1903) added 9.88% or 2.90 points to end at 32.25 and Yuen Chang Stainless Steel Co Ltd (TW:2069) was up 9.87% or 1.95 points to 21.70 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Space Shuttle (TW:2440), which lost 8.39% or 0.78 points to trade at 8.52 in late trade. Hiyes International Co Ltd (TW:2348) declined 7.07% or 1.40 points to end at 18.40 and Lung Hwa Eltrs (TW:2424) shed 6.92% or 1.55 points to 20.85.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 429 to 335 and 112 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for December delivery was up 1.75% or 0.76 to $44.08 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 1.42% or 0.63 to hit $45.06 a barrel, while the December Gold contract rose 0.37% or 4.55 to trade at $1226.25 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.10% to 31.911, while TWD/CNY rose 0.33% to 0.2136.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.10% at 99.93.
