Investing.com – Taiwan equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Glass and Machinery sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted gained 0.31%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Lemtech Holdings Co Ltd (TW:4912), which rose 10.00% or 11.00 points to trade at 121.00 at the close. Inventec Besta (TW:8201) added 10.00% or 1.50 points to end at 16.50 and Biostar (TW:2399) was up 10.00% or 1.00 points to 11.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Lung Hwa Eltrs (TW:2424), which lost 5.17% or 1.70 points to trade at 31.20 in late trade. Rexon Indu (TW:1515) declined 4.24% or 1.00 points to end at 22.60 and Phihong (TW:2457) shed 3.93% or 0.60 points to 14.65.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 633 to 164 and 77 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to $52.65 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $55.37 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.57% or 7.40 to trade at $1284.50 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.19% to 30.402, while TWD/CNY fell 0.04% to 0.2275.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 100.24.
