Investing.com – Brazil equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Real Estate, Consumption and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.81%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were JBS SA (SA:JBSS3), which rose 8.37% or 0.61 points to trade at 7.90 at the close. Centrais Eletricas Brasileiras SA (SA:ELET6) added 5.27% or 0.89 points to end at 17.79 and Estacio Participacoes SA (SA:ESTC3) was up 4.15% or 0.66 points to 16.56 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5), which lost 2.45% or 0.39 points to trade at 15.56 in late trade. Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3) declined 2.01% or 0.78 points to end at 38.04 and Klabin Unt (SA:KLBN11) shed 1.69% or 0.29 points to 16.87.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 219 to 156 and 40 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 3.68% to 36.13.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery was up 1.04% or 13.28 to $1295.98 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.24% or 0.59 to hit $47.99 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 2.32% or 2.98 to trade at $125.62 .
USD/BRL was down 0.61% to 3.2767, while EUR/BRL fell 0.44% to 3.6939.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 96.55.
