Investing.com – Brazil equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Real Estate, Financials and Public Utilities sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa lost 0.04%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Bovespa were Fibria Celulose SA (SA:FIBR3), which rose 5.47% or 1.01 points to trade at 19.49 at the close. Suzano Papel e Celulose SA (SA:SUZB5) added 5.34% or 0.49 points to end at 9.67 and Klabin Unt (SA:KLBN11) was up 4.35% or 0.68 points to 16.33 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gerdau SA (SA:GGBR4), which lost 4.90% or 0.42 points to trade at 8.15 in late trade. Usinas Siderurgicas de Minas Gerais (SA:USIM5) declined 4.66% or 0.18 points to end at 3.68 and Metalurgica Gerdau SA (SA:GOAU4) shed 4.58% or 0.140 points to 2.920.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 194 to 117 and 15 ended unchanged on the Sao Paulo Stock Exchange.
The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was up 1.70% to 33.56.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.26% or 3.45 to $1340.95 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in September rose 2.56% or 1.07 to hit $42.87 a barrel, while the September US coffee C contract fell 0.53% or 0.75 to trade at $141.48 .
USD/BRL was up 0.10% to 3.1697, while EUR/BRL rose 0.06% to 3.5127.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.15% at 96.33.
