Northern Tier Energy LP (NTI)

Northern Tier Energy LP, a downstream energy company, engages in refining, retail, and logistics operations in the United States. The company operates through two segments, refining and retail. The Refining segment operates a 102,000 barrels per stream day refinery in St. Paul Park, Minnesota that offers refined products, including gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, kerosene, asphalt, propane, propylene, and sulfur to resellers and consumers primarily in the Petroleum Administration for Defense District II region. This segment also owns various storage and transportation assets, such as light products terminal, heavy products terminal, storage tanks, rail loading/unloading facilities, and Mississippi river dock, as well as owns and operates the Minnesota pipeline, a 465,000 barrel per day crude oil pipeline system that transports crude oil. The Retail segment operates convenience stores under the SuperAmerica brand name, which sell gasoline, and diesel fuel; and merchandise products, such as prepared foods, beverages, and non-food items. As of December 31, 2016, it operated approximately 170 convenience stores, as well as supported approximately 115 franchised convenience stores primarily in Minnesota and Wisconsin. This segment also owns and operates SuperMom’s bakery, which prepares and distributes baked goods and other prepared food items for other third parties. Northern Tier Energy GP LLC operates as the general partner of the company. The company was founded in 2010 and is headquartered in Tempe, Arizona.
