Investing.com – Russia equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Power, Oil & Gas and Telecoms sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Moscow, the MICEX lost 0.75%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the MICEX were Bashneft ANK ao (MCX:BANE), which rose 9.83% or 362.5 points to trade at 4051.0 at the close. MMK (MCX:MAGN) added 3.54% or 1.345 points to end at 39.345 and United Company Rusal Plc (MCX:RUAL) was up 3.34% or 1.160 points to 35.860 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tatneft-3 (MCX:TATN), which lost 3.40% or 14.30 points to trade at 406.70 in late trade. AK Transneft OAO Pref (MCX:TRNF_p) declined 3.06% or 6450 points to end at 204250 and AFK Sistema (MCX:AFKS) shed 2.03% or 0.495 points to 23.905.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 123 to 93 and 19 ended unchanged on the Moscow Stock Exchange.
The Russian VIX, which measures the implied volatility of MICEX options, was up 2.50% to 24.160.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 1.57% or 18.75 to $1214.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 1.39% or 0.73 to hit $53.36 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 1.59% or 0.88 to trade at $56.20 a barrel.
USD/RUB was up 0.30% to 60.1110, while EUR/RUB rose 1.29% to 64.906.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.90% at 99.52.
