Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were mixed at the close on Monday, as gains in the Finance & Investment, Consumer Staples and Transport sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Insurance, Real Estate & Construction and Banking sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General fell 0.10%, while the ADX General index climbed 0.25%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Marka Pjse (DU:MARKA), which rose 3.82% or 0.02 points to trade at 0.57 at the close. Union Properties PJSC (DU:UPRO) added 3.21% or 0.028 points to end at 0.901 and Dubai Financial Market PJSC (DU:DFM) was up 2.80% or 0.030 points to 1.100 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN), which lost 3.27% or 0.026 points to trade at 0.770 in late trade. Takaful House (DU:DTKF) declined 2.51% or 0.018 points to end at 0.699 and Emaar Malls (DU:EMAA) shed 2.21% or 0.050 points to 2.210.
The top performers on the ADX General were Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which rose 6.00% to 1.0600, Al Khazna Ins (AD:AKIC) which was up 3.85% to settle at 0.270 and Rak Properties (AD:RPRO) which gained 2.53% to close at 0.810.
The worst performers were Umm Al Qaiwain Cement Industries Co PSC (AD:QIC) which was down 4.76% to 1.0000 in late trade, Ad Aviation (AD:ADAV) which lost 2.67% to settle at 2.920 and Sharjah Islami (AD:SIB) which was down 2.33% to 1.260 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 18 to 17 and 4 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 12 rose and 7 declined, while 11 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for April delivery was down 0.13% or 0.08 to $63.47 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.18% or 0.12 to hit $66.92 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.78% or 10.40 to trade at $1340.70 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was down 0.01% to 3.6729, while EUR/AED rose 0.42% to 4.5346.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.35% at 89.50.
