Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were mixed at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Telecoms, Real Estate & Construction and Finance & Investment sectors propelled shares higher while losses in the Consumer Staples, Insurance and Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Dubai, the DFM General declined 0.08%, while the ADX General index climbed 0.29%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Dubai Islamic Insurance Co. (DU:AMAN), which rose 4.58% or 0.030 points to trade at 0.685 at the close. Damac Properties Dubai Co PSC (DU:DAMAC) added 2.73% or 0.060 points to end at 2.260 and Emaar Development PJSC (DU:EMAARDEV) was up 1.71% or 0.090 points to 5.340 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Drake & Scull International PJSC (DU:DSI), which lost 9.92% or 0.061 points to trade at 0.554 in late trade. Deyaar Development PJSC (DU:DEYR) declined 5.81% or 0.024 points to end at 0.389 and Amlak Finance PJSC (DU:AMLK) shed 3.49% or 0.025 points to 0.692.
The top performers on the ADX General were Union Natl Bk (AD:UNB) which rose 2.78% to 3.700, Ad Natl Energy (AD:TAQA) which was up 2.56% to settle at 1.200 and Dana Gas (AD:DANA) which gained 1.83% to close at 1.110.
The worst performers were Nat Bk Qaiwain (AD:NBQ) which was down 9.96% to 2.44 in late trade, Gulf Cement Co (AD:GCEM) which lost 6.93% to settle at 0.9400 and Rak Cement Co (AD:RKCC) which was down 6.33% to 0.740 at the close.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 21 to 12 and 5 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 11 fell and 9 advanced, while 7 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.52% or 0.36 to $68.81 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.28% or 0.21 to hit $74.44 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.02% or 0.30 to trade at $1218.60 a troy ounce.
USD/AED was up 0.01% to 3.6732, while EUR/AED fell 0.03% to 4.2592.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 95.10.
