United Arab Emirates shares higher at close of trade; DFM General up 0.28%

Investing.com – United Arab Emirates equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Real Estate & Construction, Insurance and Transport sectors propelled shares higher.

At the close in Dubai, the DFM General gained 0.28%, while the ADX General index gained 0.83%.

The biggest gainers of the session on the DFM General were Arabtec Holding PJSC (DU:ARTC), which rose 10.83% or 0.091 points to trade at 0.931 at the close. National General Insurance Co PSC (DU:NGIN) added 10.14% or 0.21 points to end at 2.28 and Islamic Arab Insurance Company (DU:SALAMA) was up 3.33% or 0.015 points to 0.465 in late trade.

Biggest losers included Dubai Investments PJSC (DU:DINV), which lost 5.24% or 0.123 points to trade at 2.220 in late trade. Takaful House (DU:DTKF) declined 3.51% or 0.043 points to end at 1.190 and AJMAN BANK PJSC (DU:AJBNK) shed 2.34% or 0.030 points to 1.250.

The top performers on the ADX General were Bank Of Sharja (AD:BOS) which rose 10.16% to 1.410, Union Natl Bk (AD:UNB) which was up 6.56% to settle at 5.200 and Ad Natl Energy (AD:TAQA) which gained 5.66% to close at 0.560.

The worst performers were Commercial Bank International (AD:CBI) which was down 9.71% to 1.580 in late trade, Fujairah Cement Industries Co PSC (AD:FCI) which lost 7.41% to settle at 1.000 and Al Khaleej Investment Co PJSC (AD:KICO) which was down 4.72% to 1.21 at the close.

Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 18 to 14 and 5 ended unchanged; on the Abu Dhabi, 10 fell and 9 advanced, while 10 ended unchanged on the Dubai Stock Exchange.

In commodities trading, Crude oil for May delivery was up 0.31% or 0.16 to $52.57 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.42% or 0.23 to hit $55.12 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.78% or 10.10 to trade at $1284.00 a troy ounce.

USD/AED was up 0.01% to 3.6732, while EUR/AED fell 0.01% to 3.9408.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 99.51.
