Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Financial Services, Beverage and Food & Drug Retailers sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 1.76%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES), which rose 3.56% or 26.60 points to trade at 774.20 at the close. AVEVA Group PLC (LON:AVV) added 2.99% or 62.00 points to end at 2,135.00 and Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) was up 2.09% or 15.20 points to 743.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included 3I Group PLC (LON:III), which lost 11.03% or 146.00 points to trade at 1,178.00 in late trade. DCC plc (LON:DCC) declined 6.35% or 384.00 points to end at 5,666.00 and Bunzl PLC (LON:BNZL) shed 5.21% or 152.00 points to 2,767.00.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1448 to 446 and 401 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.31% or 23.86 to $1,839.76 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 1.15% or 1.23 to hit $108.27 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.37% or 1.50 to trade at $110.61 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 1.27% to 1.25, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.04% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.98% at 102.85.
