Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the Industrial Engineering, Automobiles & Parts and Fixed Line Telecommunications sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 fell 0.20%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Kingfisher PLC (LON:KGF), which rose 2.57% or 6.00 points to trade at 239.60 at the close. St. James's Place PLC (LON:SJP) added 2.49% or 11.40 points to end at 470.00 and B&M European Value Retail SA (LON:BMEB) was up 1.97% or 10.40 points to 537.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Spirax-Sarco Engineering PLC (LON:SPX), which lost 4.48% or 475.00 points to trade at 10,120.00 in late trade. Rightmove PLC (LON:RMV) declined 3.68% or 21.00 points to end at 550.20 and Ocado Group PLC (LON:OCDO) shed 3.35% or 15.70 points to 452.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 997 to 783 and 673 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.79% or 17.10 to $2,177.10 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.46% or 1.18 to hit $81.81 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.31% or 1.11 to trade at $85.94 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.31% to 1.26, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.05% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 103.93.
