Investing.com – U.K. equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the Industrial Transportation, Fixed Line Telecommunications and Support Services sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Unilever PLC (LON:ULVR), which rose 3.59% or 135.5 points to trade at 3914.5 at the close. British American Tobacco PLC (LON:BATS) added 3.04% or 99.5 points to end at 3368.5 and Flutter Entertainment PLC (LON:FLTRF) was up 2.81% or 310.0 points to 11360.0 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Bank VTB PAO DRC (LON:VTBRq), which lost 7.61% or 0.088 points to trade at 1.068 in late trade. Sberbank Of Russia (LON:SBNCyq) declined 6.35% or 0.96 points to end at 14.16 and GMK Norilskiy Nikel PAO DRC (LON:NKELyq) shed 5.18% or 1.58 points to 28.94.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 1247 to 638 and 485 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.24% or 4.45 to $1841.85 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in March rose 2.36% or 2.12 to hit $92.00 a barrel, while the April Brent oil contract rose 2.05% or 1.87 to trade at $93.28 a barrel.
GBP/USD was up 0.28% to 1.3592, while EUR/GBP fell 0.55% to 0.8382.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.23% at 95.763.
