Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrial Transportation, Aerospace & Defense and Oil & Gas Producers sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.18%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Unilever PLC (LON:ULVR), which rose 3.08% or 117.50 points to trade at 3,929.00 at the close. Rolls-Royce Holdings PLC (LON:RR) added 2.74% or 10.70 points to end at 400.70 and Ashtead Group PLC (LON:AHT) was up 2.15% or 112.00 points to 5,312.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Reckitt Benckiser Group PLC (LON:RKT), which lost 4.53% or 207.00 points to trade at 4,368.00 in late trade. Fresnillo PLC (LON:FRES) declined 4.29% or 19.80 points to end at 441.40 and Airtel Africa Plc (LON:AAF) shed 3.97% or 3.75 points to 90.70.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 982 to 793 and 667 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was down 0.26% or 5.55 to $2,158.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.95% or 0.78 to hit $82.94 a barrel, while the May Brent oil contract rose 0.76% or 0.66 to trade at $87.55 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.03% to 1.27, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.04% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.23% at 103.48.
