Investing.com – U.K. equities were higher at the close on Tuesday, as gains in the General Retailers, Food Producers and Beverage sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.15%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Kingfisher PLC (LON:KGF), which rose 4.26% or 10.20 points to trade at 249.80 at the close. Marks and Spencer Group PLC (LON:MKS) added 3.86% or 9.80 points to end at 263.90 and JD Sports Fashion PLC (LON:JD) was up 3.72% or 4.10 points to 114.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Auto Trader Group Plc (LON:AUTOA), which lost 4.93% or 36.60 points to trade at 705.60 in late trade. Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) declined 1.89% or 94.50 points to end at 4,918.50 and Croda International PLC (LON:CRDA) shed 1.86% or 92.00 points to 4,848.00.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 1035 to 752 and 652 ended unchanged on the London Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for April delivery was up 0.06% or 1.30 to $2,177.70 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 0.18% or 0.15 to hit $82.10 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.05% or 0.04 to trade at $86.04 a barrel.
GBP/USD was unchanged 0.01% to 1.26, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.01% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 103.97.
