Investing.com – Turkey equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the Basic Metals, Telecoms and Textile & Leather sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Istanbul, the BIST 100 fell 1.22%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the BIST 100 were Hurriyet Gazetecilik ve Matbaacilik AS (IS:HURGZ), which rose 3.09% or 0.030 points to trade at 1.000 at the close. Tekfen Holding AS (IS:TKFEN) added 2.66% or 0.54 points to end at 20.86 and Metro Ticari ve Mali Yatirimlar Holding AS (IS:METRO) was up 2.60% or 0.020 points to 0.790 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Eregli Demir ve Celik Fabrikalari TAS (IS:EREGL), which lost 5.22% or 0.430 points to trade at 7.800 in late trade. Akbank TAS (IS:AKBNK) declined 5.00% or 0.35 points to end at 6.65 and Ipek Dogal Enerji Kaynaklari Arastirma ve Uretim AS (IS:IPEKE) shed 4.15% or 0.250 points to 5.770.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 250 to 108 and 48 ended unchanged on the Istanbul Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold Futures for February delivery was up 0.33% or 4.15 to $1246.75 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in January fell 3.54% or 1.87 to hit $51.02 a barrel, while the February Brent oil contract fell 3.02% or 1.86 to trade at $59.70 a barrel.
USD/TRY was up 0.55% to 5.3556, while EUR/TRY rose 0.98% to 6.1059.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.32% at 96.700.
