Investing.com – Greece equities were higher at the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Travel, Basic Resources and Chemicals sectors propelled shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General-Composite rose 0.14%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Athens General-Composite were Intracom Hold (AT:INRr), which rose 6.05% or 0.019 points to trade at 0.333 at the close. Iaso (AT:IASr) added 5.95% or 0.025 points to end at 0.445 and Centric Hold (AT:DESr) was up 4.95% or 0.005 points to 0.106 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Elinoil Hellenic Petroleum Company SA (AT:ELIr), which lost 29.90% or 0.2960 points to trade at 0.6940 in late trade. Select Textile (AT:EPIr) declined 5.88% or 0.008 points to end at 0.128 and National Bank of Greece (AT:NBGr) shed 5.26% or 0.01 points to 0.18.
Advancing stocks outnumbered falling ones by 53 to 37 and 19 ended unchanged on the Athens Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Gold for December delivery was down 0.36% or 4.55 to $1269.05 a troy ounce. Meanwhile, Crude oil for delivery in December fell 0.40% or 0.20 to hit $49.76 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract fell 0.77% or 0.39 to trade at $50.40 a barrel.
EUR/USD was up 0.22% to 1.0913, while EUR/GBP fell 0.10% to 0.8925.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.13% at 98.56.
