Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the , Machinery and Optoelectronic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.59%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Eastern Media (TW:2614), which rose 6.04% or 0.44 points to trade at 7.72 at the close. Charoen Pokphand Enterprise (TW:1215) added 5.74% or 2.25 points to end at 41.45 and Hiyes International Co Ltd (TW:2348) was up 4.63% or 0.95 points to 21.45 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Chlitina (TW:4137), which lost 9.77% or 15.00 points to trade at 138.50 in late trade. Ygg (TW:1589) declined 9.76% or 16.50 points to end at 152.50 and Chang Ho (TW:1468) shed 8.89% or 1.00 points to 10.25.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 690 to 114 and 62 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.65% or 0.33 to $50.77 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.27% or 0.14 to hit $52.17 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.03% or 0.35 to trade at $1257.25 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.14% to 31.692, while TWD/CNY fell 0.28% to 0.2118.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.29% at 97.81.
