Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the , Construction and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.58% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Epileds Tech (TW:4956), which rose 9.86% or 1.45 points to trade at 16.15 at the close. Posiflex (TW:8114) added 7.20% or 12.50 points to end at 186.00 and Mirle Auto (TW:2464) was up 6.59% or 3.00 points to 48.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tainan Cayman (TW:5906), which lost 8.89% or 0.640 points to trade at 6.560 in late trade. Bionime (TW:4737) declined 7.53% or 3.60 points to end at 44.20 and Sumagh High-Te (TW:1475) shed 7.44% or 0.90 points to 11.20.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 603 to 184 and 70 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for October delivery was down 1.63% or 0.80 to $48.31 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 1.79% or 0.91 to hit $49.97 a barrel, while the December Gold contract fell 0.64% or 8.60 to trade at $1337.60 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.73% to 31.847, while TWD/CNY fell 0.24% to 0.2097.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.40% at 94.86.
