Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the , Hotels and Oil, Gas & Electricity sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 0.46%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Genius (TW:3406), which rose 10.00% or 10.00 points to trade at 110.00 at the close. Jenn Feng (TW:1538) added 9.98% or 0.58 points to end at 6.39 and Tpcc (TW:4725) was up 9.90% or 2.00 points to 22.20 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Transasia (TW:6702), which lost 9.70% or 0.16 points to trade at 1.49 in late trade. Li Cheng (TW:4426) declined 9.62% or 11.50 points to end at 108.00 and Coadna (TW:4984) shed 8.17% or 5.10 points to 57.30.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 474 to 299 and 100 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 4.91% or 2.53 to $54.03 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 4.49% or 2.44 to hit $56.77 a barrel, while the February Gold contract fell 0.25% or 2.90 to trade at $1159.00 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.19% to 31.857, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2170.
The US Dollar Index was down 0.06% at 101.54.
