Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Glass and Optoelectronic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 4.95% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Pal Wonn Taiwan Co Ltd (TW:2429), which rose 9.97% or 1.55 points to trade at 17.10 at the close. Chia Ta World Co Ltd (TW:2033) added 9.73% or 1.45 points to end at 16.35 and Giant Manufacturing Co Ltd (TW:9921) was up 4.18% or 6.50 points to 162.00 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Taiwan Glass Ind Corp (TW:1802), which lost 10.00% or 1.85 points to trade at 16.65 in late trade. Unitech Printed Circuit Board Corp (TW:2367) declined 10.00% or 2.30 points to end at 20.70 and AVerMedia Technologies Inc (TW:2417) shed 10.00% or 1.45 points to 13.05.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 887 to 19 and 9 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 1.06% or 0.68 to $63.47 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 1.01% or 0.68 to hit $66.94 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.70% or 9.40 to trade at $1345.90 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.20% to 29.351, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2130.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.10% at 89.48.
