Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Glass sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 1.62%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were APAQ Technology Co Ltd (TW:6449), which rose 10.00% or 6.10 points to trade at 67.10 at the close. Chia Ta World Co Ltd (TW:2033) added 9.96% or 1.35 points to end at 14.90 and Pal Wonn Taiwan Co Ltd (TW:2429) was up 9.89% or 1.40 points to 15.55 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Taiwan Prosperity Chemical Corp (TW:4725), which lost 9.89% or 3.20 points to trade at 29.15 in late trade. Darwin Precisions Corp (TW:6120) declined 8.04% or 2.85 points to end at 32.60 and Abocom Systems Inc (TW:2444) shed 7.41% or 2.60 points to 32.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 732 to 129 and 45 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.83% or 0.54 to $64.91 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 0.89% or 0.61 to hit $67.97 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.19% or 2.60 to trade at $1334.70 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.21% to 29.310, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2148.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 89.02.
