Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Electronic Parts/Components and Textile sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 1.52%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Eastern Technologies Holding Ltd (TW:5225), which rose 10.00% or 2.10 points to trade at 23.10 at the close. Sumagh High Tech Corp (TW:1475) added 9.80% or 1.95 points to end at 21.85 and Sunjuice Holdings Co Ltd (TW:1256) was up 6.89% or 11.50 points to 178.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Yageo Corp (TW:2327), which lost 9.94% or 79.00 points to trade at 716.00 in late trade. Walsin Technology Corp (TW:2492) declined 9.93% or 34.00 points to end at 308.50 and Holy Stone Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:3026) shed 8.54% or 17.50 points to 187.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 718 to 132 and 67 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.21% or 0.14 to $67.80 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.39% or 0.28 to hit $72.67 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.04% or 0.50 to trade at $1228.10 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.10% to 30.658, while TWD/CNY fell 0.18% to 0.2221.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 94.54.
