Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Friday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Rubber sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 1.49% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were VIA Technologies Inc (TW:2388), which rose 9.97% or 1.45 points to trade at 16.00 at the close. Mospec Semiconductor Corp (TW:2434) added 9.87% or 1.10 points to end at 12.25 and Onano Industrial Corp (TW:6405) was up 6.36% or 1.40 points to 23.40 in late trade.
Biggest losers included APAQ Technology Co Ltd (TW:6449), which lost 10.00% or 5.60 points to trade at 50.40 in late trade. Kaulin Mfg (TW:1531) declined 9.32% or 2.20 points to end at 21.40 and Eson Precision Ind Co Ltd (TW:5243) shed 9.19% or 3.45 points to 34.10.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 687 to 159 and 65 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for March delivery was down 1.03% or 0.63 to $60.52 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 0.69% or 0.45 to hit $64.36 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.21% or 2.80 to trade at $1321.80 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.00% to 29.378, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2157.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 90.12.
