Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Thursday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Semiconductor sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted fell 1.11%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Pal Wonn Taiwan Co Ltd (TW:2429), which rose 9.86% or 1.05 points to trade at 11.70 at the close. Chaun-Choung Technology Corp (TW:6230) added 9.65% or 11.00 points to end at 125.00 and Roo Hsing Co Ltd (TW:4414) was up 9.20% or 1.20 points to 14.25 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Jui Li Enterprise Co Ltd (TW:1512), which lost 9.93% or 0.71 points to trade at 6.44 in late trade. Green Energy Technology Inc (TW:3519) declined 9.90% or 0.40 points to end at 3.64 and Career Technology MFG Co Ltd (TW:6153) shed 9.86% or 2.85 points to 26.05.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 677 to 157 and 75 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was down 2.10% or 1.01 to $47.16 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 1.50% or 0.86 to hit $56.38 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.49% or 6.15 to trade at $1250.25 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.21% to 30.808, while TWD/CNY rose 0.31% to 0.2240.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 96.287.
