Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the , Optoelectronic and Semiconductor sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.95%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Taiwan Prosperity Chemical Corp (TW:4725), which rose 9.98% or 2.05 points to trade at 22.60 at the close. Global View Co Ltd (TW:3040) added 9.94% or 4.50 points to end at 49.75 and Taimide Tech Inc (TW:3645) was up 9.93% or 5.90 points to 65.30 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Gem Terminal Industry Co Ltd (TW:2460), which lost 8.88% or 1.35 points to trade at 13.85 in late trade. Lextar Electronics Corp (TW:3698) declined 8.68% or 2.50 points to end at 26.30 and Lotes Co Ltd (TW:3533) shed 7.08% or 13.00 points to 170.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 495 to 268 and 112 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was down 0.53% or 0.31 to $58.64 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 0.50% or 0.32 to hit $63.79 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.21% or 2.69 to trade at $1289.99 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.06% to 30.006, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2215.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 92.72.
