Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the , Oil, Gas & Electricity and Plastic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.92%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Jui Li (TW:1512), which rose 9.93% or 0.59 points to trade at 6.53 at the close. I-Hwa Industrial Co Ltd (TW:1456) added 9.87% or 1.15 points to end at 12.80 and Pao Lung (TW:1906) was up 9.82% or 1.95 points to 21.80 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Transasia (TW:6702), which lost 10.00% or 0.06 points to trade at 0.54 in late trade. Sheng Yu Steel (TW:2029) declined 7.32% or 2.70 points to end at 34.20 and Grand Petroche (TW:1312) shed 6.89% or 1.45 points to 19.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 571 to 195 and 104 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.06% or 0.03 to $52.40 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.05% or 0.03 to hit $55.48 a barrel, while the February Gold contract rose 0.89% or 10.65 to trade at $1206.85 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.11% to 31.630, while TWD/CNY unchanged 0.00% to 0.2184.
The US Dollar Index was up 0.19% at 101.36.
