Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Oil, Gas & Electricity and Electronic Products Distribution sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted lost 0.70%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Bonny Worldwide Ltd (TW:8467), which rose 9.92% or 3.30 points to trade at 36.55 at the close. Solomon Technology Corp (TW:2359) added 9.78% or 1.75 points to end at 19.65 and Chaun-Choung Technology Corp (TW:6230) was up 9.76% or 10.00 points to 112.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Green Energy Technology Inc (TW:3519), which lost 9.86% or 0.49 points to trade at 4.48 in late trade. Elite Material Co Ltd (TW:2383) declined 8.98% or 6.80 points to end at 68.90 and Eastern Media International Corp (TW:2614) shed 6.53% or 0.95 points to 13.60.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 645 to 171 and 93 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was down 1.81% or 0.91 to $49.29 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 1.74% or 1.04 to hit $58.57 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.14% or 1.70 to trade at $1250.10 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.04% to 30.823, while TWD/CNY fell 0.04% to 0.2236.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 96.610.
