Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Oil, Gas & Electricity and Optoelectronic sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.54%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Yu Foong International Corp (TW:1438), which rose 9.99% or 0.690 points to trade at 7.600 at the close. Elite Material Co Ltd (TW:2383) added 9.99% or 8.00 points to end at 88.10 and Jye Tai Precision Industrial Co Ltd (TW:6165) was up 9.96% or 0.77 points to 8.50 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Eastech Holding Limited (TW:5225), which lost 8.64% or 2.60 points to trade at 27.50 in late trade. Silergy Corp (TW:6415) declined 6.54% or 35.00 points to end at 500.00 and BizLink Holding Inc (TW:3665) shed 6.37% or 13.50 points to 198.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 413 to 387 and 106 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for January delivery was up 1.06% or 0.56 to $53.51 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in February rose 1.01% or 0.62 to hit $62.31 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.28% or 3.50 to trade at $1243.10 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was down 0.08% to 30.645, while TWD/CNY fell 0.36% to 0.2236.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.33% at 96.653.
