Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Monday, as losses in the , Cement and Cement & Glass sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.52%.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were National Aerospace Fasteners Corp (TW:3004), which rose 9.93% or 7.30 points to trade at 80.80 at the close. Universal Microelectronics Co Ltd (TW:2413) added 9.93% or 2.05 points to end at 22.70 and Green Energy Technology Inc (TW:3519) was up 9.84% or 0.24 points to 2.68 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Tatung Co (TW:2371), which lost 7.61% or 2.05 points to trade at 24.90 in late trade. Tri Ocean Textile Co Ltd (TW:1472) declined 6.13% or 1.90 points to end at 29.10 and HiTi Digital Inc (TW:3494) shed 6.07% or 0.42 points to 6.50.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 529 to 253 and 136 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for February delivery was down 1.18% or 0.61 to $50.98 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 1.17% or 0.71 to hit $59.77 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.10% or 1.25 to trade at $1290.75 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.26% to 30.876, while TWD/CNY fell 0.02% to 0.2193.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 95.227.
