Investing.com – Taiwan equities were lower at the close on Tuesday, as losses in the , Semiconductor and Financials sectors propelled shares lower.
At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted declined 0.41% to hit a new 1-month low.
The biggest gainers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Walsin Technology Corp (TW:2492), which rose 9.97% or 32.50 points to trade at 358.50 at the close. Shiny Chemical Industrial Co Ltd (TW:1773) added 9.91% or 8.90 points to end at 98.70 and Shin Shin Natural Gas Co Ltd (TW:9918) was up 9.91% or 3.30 points to 36.60 in late trade.
Biggest losers included Global View Co Ltd (TW:3040), which lost 9.82% or 4.80 points to trade at 44.10 in late trade. Rectron Ltd (TW:2302) declined 8.83% or 0.87 points to end at 8.98 and Green Energy Technology Inc (TW:3519) shed 8.52% or 1.15 points to 12.35.
Declining stocks outnumbered rising ones by 574 to 272 and 74 ended unchanged on the Taiwan Stock Exchange.
In commodities trading, Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.53% or 0.36 to $68.44 a barrel. Meanwhile, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.30% or 0.22 to hit $74.77 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.26% or 3.30 to trade at $1265.60 a troy ounce.
USD/TWD was up 0.06% to 30.391, while TWD/CNY rose 0.19% to 0.2165.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.06% at 94.01.
